A Whirlwind of Dust and Rain
The day has been a whirlwind of dust, rain, and shadows. I set out from the mountains with such purpose, eager to prove that a Skyborne of my stature can hold my own among the mighty Horde. I was perhaps too eager; a scavenger hyena in the Barrens taught me a harsh lesson in humility, leaving me to wake anew at the Crossroads.
Orgrimmar felt like a true home, despite its grit. I spoke with Advisor Nazgrel, who has given me tasks to further my understanding of our allies. I traveled to the great heights of Thunder Bluff to rest, though I found myself comparing their flying vessels to the graceful airships of my people. They are sturdy, yes, but they lack the elegance of the sky.
The journey took a dark turn when I traveled north to Tirisfal Glades. The rain was relentless, soaking through my gear as I wandered through the ruins. The Undercity is a grim place—unsettling and quite strange. I spoke with their leader and decided that the gloom of the dead was not for me. I took a zeppelin back to Orgrimmar, a marvel of engineering though lacking in grace.
I return to the Valley of Strength feeling much more capable. I found a fine Honorbound Cloak in the Hold, and completing my lessons on the Horde has left me feeling more seasoned. My mind is sharp, and my resolve is firm. There are enemies hidden in the shadows, and I intend to find them.
A Return to Safety
The peace of Valanaar is a welcome balm. I am back within the safety of my own lands, far from the choking dust and the relentless sun of the Barrens.
I feel a new strength within me today, a growing sense of being more seasoned, yet that strength was tested more harshly than I anticipated. After delivering the insignia to Thrall and hearing his warnings of the Shadow Council, I felt a surge of purpose. I traveled to the Crossroads to assist Thork with the Razormane threat, thinking myself capable of disrupting their raids.
The Barrens is a strange, beautiful, and terrible place. The way the vines cling to the hills is lovely, but the smell of carrion on the roads is a heavy price for such a view. My journey was cut short at Thorn Hill. I found myself in a struggle with a Water Seeker that I could not win, and the sensation of my spirit being pulled away was a cold terror I do not wish to repeat.
I realized, after facing such a foe, that I am not yet ready for the brutality of this world. I turned away a task from Neeru Fireblade, for I am not strong enough to hunt such beasts without courting death—a habit I have no desire to form. I think I shall stay here for a time. I am much too young for such a barren, thorny existence.
Trials and Turning Tides
The night has deepened, and the air around Valanaar feels heavy with the scent of salt and the lingering tension of battle. I returned to the fray at the watchtower, answering Yorana Windyreed's desperate plea to break the siege.
As I moved through the Gustberry Lowlands, the sheer numbers of the Al'Aketh cultists were overwhelming. For a moment, a cold terror seized me—I truly felt afraid that I would be swallowed by their ranks. But as I struck down their healers and brawlers, a surge of pride took hold. I even faced their commander, Belguilos. She was a terror indeed, a former peacekeeper turned into something unrecognizable, but I held my ground. My movements with my staff feel more natural, and my instinct to defend myself is sharpening.
I have emerged with more than just victory. My gear feels sturdier tonight; I have secured new bracers, a sturdy cord, and a balanced quarterstaff that fits my hand well.
The weight of my duties only grows. I delivered my report to Valennia Stormfist, who seemed relieved to hear the tower holds, but the High Elder, Talaanis Shadowsong, has laid a different kind of burden upon me. He speaks of a turncoat hiding in the highlands—a defector who might hold the key to the cult's true intentions. It could be a trap, he warned, and the risk is not small. I also encountered Ayessa Dawnsinger; she seemed shaken by the day's bloodletting, but I was able to provide her with the windstone charms she required.
The winds are changing, and I must be ready for whatever they bring.
